Does a bathroom fan need a special rating?

Yes — the fan and any switch inside the room needs the correct IP rating for its zone, which we account for during installation.

Can a fan be fitted without loft access?

In most cases, but ducting routes are agreed on site first, since the fan needs a clear path to vent outside for it to work properly.
