Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between a breaker and an RCD?
A circuit breaker protects the wiring from overload; an RCD protects people from electric shock by cutting power if current leaks to earth. Most modern boards use RCBOs, which combine both.
Should I test my RCD myself?
Pressing the test button every few months is good practice — if it doesn’t trip and reset cleanly, that’s a sign it needs professional attention.
